Turning Industrial Challenges into Innovation
The Story Behind DAVOLIN: Joe Zhou’s Vision
From an early age, Joe Zhou was fascinated by how things worked. While other children played with toys, Joe found himself drawn to mechanical structures—curious about how components fit together and how designs could be improved. This passion naturally led him to study structural design, laying the foundation for a career centered around problem-solving and product innovation.
After graduation, Joe joined a company specializing in rugged keyboards, where he gained hands-on experience in industrial input devices and the challenges of harsh-environment applications. Over time, however, he began to notice a shift. As the company expanded, rugged keyboards gradually became less of a priority. The focus moved toward larger equipment such as kiosks and ATMs, while keyboards—often seen as just a small accessory—received less attention.
At the same time, Joe saw deeper problems within the industry. Rigid corporate systems limited creativity and slowed collaboration with customers. Complex production processes often resulted in inconsistent quality and repeated delivery delays. More importantly, customers with specialized needs struggled to find suppliers willing to truly understand their applications and provide practical solutions.
Rather than accepting the status quo, Joe saw an opportunity.
In 2010, he founded DAVOLIN with a clear belief: rugged keyboards and industrial input devices should never be treated as an afterthought. Whether used in marine navigation, mining equipment, medical environments, parcel lockers, or industrial automation systems, every product deserved reliability, precision, and customization built around real-world needs.
From the very beginning, Joe focused on close customer communication, flexible customization, and continuous improvement in both manufacturing and product design. His goal was simple but ambitious—to build dependable solutions for demanding environments while creating long-term partnerships based on trust.
Today, DAVOLIN has grown into a trusted manufacturer serving customers around the world. Yet Joe’s original mindset remains unchanged: listen carefully, solve practical problems, and never stop improving.
