Project Background
A European hospital uses mobile medical workstations and therapy carts built around an all-in-one computer with an adjustable support arm. The keyboard is installed on the workstation input surface so clinical staff can operate the computer where it is needed.
The input device is shared between users and needs to fit routine cleaning practices. DAVOLIN supplied the keyboard component for the workstation; the project did not involve supplying the entire medical cart.

The Challenge
The workstation provides limited space for keyboard entry, yet staff still need letters, numbers and common computer functions. The keyboard also needs to suit shared clinical use and repeated surface cleaning.
Cleaning should not unintentionally enter commands, and visibility needs to remain practical in different lighting conditions. These requirements had to be combined with a compact profile and a straightforward connection to the workstation computer.
Cleanable input within a compact shared workstation
The keyboard needed a sealed silicone surface, cleaning controls, adjustable backlighting and a space-efficient layout.
DAVOLIN Solution
DAVOLIN supplied a fully sealed silicone keyboard measuring 380 × 130 × 10 mm, with USB connectivity and IP68 protection. The compact layout places the numeric keypad close to the main keys to fit the available workstation surface.
A cleaning-lock function prevents unintended key input during cleaning. An on/off key and adjustable backlighting provide additional control for everyday workstation use and lower-light conditions.
The keyboard is the supplied input component within the customer’s mobile medical workstation.
Selected Product
Washable Silicone Keyboard
A sealed silicone keyboard for mobile medical workstations, measuring 380 × 130 × 10 mm with USB connectivity and IP68 protection. Cleaning lock, an on/off key and adjustable backlighting support shared clinical use.
Project Result
Following sample and functional confirmation, the keyboard was installed on multiple mobile medical workstations in the European hospital. It became part of the actual cart input arrangement alongside the all-in-one computer.
The project continued into annual repeat purchasing, supporting further workstation requirements beyond the initial installation.

Looking Ahead
Annual repeat orders support the continuing workstation program. Future input configurations can be reviewed against the available cart space, computer connection and clinical operating workflow.
