Product introduction

A Long-Running Trackball Keyboard Design

D-8602 is one of DAVOLIN’s long-standing best-selling models for equipment panels that need keyboard input and physical cursor control in one fixed position. Its mechanical trackball keeps text entry, function commands and on-screen navigation at the panel without relying on a separate mouse.

A black version is also available for equipment with a darker panel design, alongside the standard stainless steel appearance.

Product features

A Rugged Trackball Keyboard for Equipment Panels

D-8602 brings together physical cursor control, impact resistance and reliable operation across a wide temperature range for demanding equipment panels. A black finish option also helps the keyboard match the final machine design.

01

Vandal-Resistant Construction

Rated to IK08 impact resistance, the stainless steel front panel helps protect the operator interface against hard everyday use and deliberate damage.

02

Mechanical Cursor Control

The 38 mm mechanical trackball provides direct cursor control without relying on a capacitive touch surface. It is a practical choice for operators who prefer physical input or wear standard work gloves.

03

Wide Operating Temperature Range

Rated for operation from −40°C to +70°C, D-8602 supports equipment panels exposed to cold starts, warm enclosures and changing site conditions.

04

Black Finish Option

In addition to the standard stainless steel appearance, D-8602 can be supplied in black to match dark control panels and finished equipment designs.

Application reference

From Fiber Laser Control to Self-Service Kiosks

Two installation references show D-8602 as a fixed input component in both industrial machinery and public-facing terminals.

One Keyboard, Two Equipment Roles

At left, D-8602 is fitted beneath the display of a European fiber laser cutting machine. The keyboard, function keys and trackball keep program entry and screen navigation at the machine console.

At right, the same model is integrated into a U.S. self-service kiosk. Its compact stainless steel layout gives the finished terminal a dedicated physical input interface instead of a separate office keyboard or mouse.

Selection notes

Check Before Choosing D-8602

Confirm the installation angle, expected typing use and operating environment alongside the stated front-surface protection.

01

Front Protection Limits

IP65 applies only to the front keyboard area; the trackball is rated IP54. These ratings do not describe protection of the complete installed machine or enclosure.

02

Trackball Installation Angle

Vertical and steep-angle mounting is possible, but a horizontal panel gives the smoothest trackball movement. Confirm the intended position before ordering.

03

Typing Feel

The metal key construction prioritises durability and panel integration, not the light feel of an office keyboard. Request a sample if extended typing comfort is critical.

04

Heavy Contamination

This model is not recommended for heavy oil, persistent moisture or high levels of dust and debris around the trackball. Choose a fully sealed silicone keyboard for frequent wash-down applications.
