Product features
Built for Control Panels That Stay in Service
For equipment builders, selecting a panel keyboard is about more than dimensions. Daily maintenance, operator visibility, host connection and available console space all affect how well the finished equipment works. D-8635G addresses these practical decisions in one panel-mounted input solution.
Removable Mechanical Trackball
The 36 mm mechanical trackball can be removed for routine cleaning or replacement without removing the complete keyboard from the control panel.
Optional Backlit Keys and Trackball
Backlighting can be specified for both the key area and trackball to keep controls visible in dim cabins, control rooms and equipment enclosures.
Ready-to-Use USB Connection
On USB versions, the keyboard and trackball are recognised as standard input devices on supported systems without additional driver installation.
Rugged Build, Compact Footprint
The stainless steel front panel and keys are built for frequent equipment use, while the compact rear-panel-mount format helps conserve space in operator consoles.

D-8635G in an ROV Surface-Control Console
A panel-mounted input solution for portable control systems used in underwater search and recovery work.

ROV Control in the Field
These images document a U.S. public-safety ROV training deployment for underwater search and recovery. D-8635G is integrated into the portable surface-control console, bringing keyboard input, function keys and trackball navigation together below the operator display.
The setup shows how a panel-mounted keyboard can support video and sonar-based ROV operation at the water’s edge without relying on separate desktop peripherals.

Selection notes
Confirm These Points Before Ordering
Review the host connection, mounting orientation, exposure conditions and maintenance requirements before selecting the standard configuration.
USB Connection Planning
The standard USB version uses two independent connections: one for the keyboard and one for the trackball. If the host has only one available USB port, request a single-USB configuration before ordering.
Keyboard Installation Orientation
Vertical and angled panel installations are supported. A horizontal position is recommended for the smoothest trackball feel and most consistent cursor response. Confirm the intended orientation before finalising the panel design.
Water and Contamination Exposure
IP65 applies to the keyboard front surface and IP54 to the trackball area. This model is not intended for frequent wash-down, continuous moisture or heavy contamination.
Trackball Maintenance
Keep the ball and trackball recess free of dust, metal debris and sticky contaminants. Set cleaning intervals to suit the actual operating environment.
